Residential Flute Workshops

Residential Workshops are held twice a year and are especially designed to cater for Adult Flautists.

The Workshops are held in an informal relaxed rural setting, inclusive of all tuition, full board and lodging.

The aims of the Workshops are to provide a maximum of 5 students with the opportunity to improve and enhance their overall ability, to ultimately think more independently about technique, interpretation and musical expression, and to learn also how to maximize practice. Tuition is given both to the group as a whole and also on a "one to one" basis within the class. All aspects of flute related issues including articulation, tone, scales and vibrato are addressed during the course of the Workshop, and there is ample opportunity to ask questions and to share ideas with the other participants.

The Course is structured specifically to help adult students who may be experiencing various levels of performance anxiety prior to, for example, an examination or playing before an audience. The Workshops provide opportunities to play with both an Accompanist and also within a Flute Ensemble, thus allowing Russell to address any potential problems in a calm, sensitive and relaxed environment.

It is rewarding to observe not only the progress made, but also the confidence gained by participants during the course, frequently resulting in students attending subsequent Workshops.

The format and structure is strictly non competitive and is designed to be informative, educational, enjoyable, and above all fun.

Participants are required to have reached Grade 5 standard or above.
